About us

Geoff Turton and David Harvey are the drivers and partners in Vision Racer International.

Geoff is a UK based professional race car designer and fabricator, and has worked on many elite sports and race cars including the UK Porsche Cup Team, and the Peugeot WRC Rally Team. Geoff is the Chief Designer.

David is a businessman with twenty years international experience in Information Technology and a track record in developing niche businesses. He now lives, mostly, in New Zealand with his very special historical Lola race cars.

They are passionate about driving, racing, and race car development.

The Vision Racer project has been building since 2003 when David bought a handmade driving simulator chassis from Geoff so as to practice his driving skills and race craft for racing his own cars.

With his background in building IT companies it was perhaps inevitable that he saw the opening to develop and productionise Geoff’s chassis thereby creating the perfect tool for both genuine driver training, and pure unadulterated fun. The Vision Racer was born and the third generation Vision Racer system is due to be released in the third quarter of 2008.

The next step was to create a genuine race series that emulates the real thing. The partners set criteria that the league should be ageless, genderless, global, and huge fun. It must work as a solo or group activity, on a casual or dedicated basis. It must be fair, rewarding, and low cost. A key driver for Formula VR is to provide funds and promote self-sponsored motorsport. In short it needed to parallel the real thing whilst being accessible.

Over many months, and many discussions, with many people, Formula VR was born; a virtual racing league that pitches Vision Racer users against each other, for real prize money. The Formula VR leagues will be phased in during the fourth quarter of 2008.

Partnerships are being formed with the likes of Logitech, Sony, Sega, Advergamer UK and The Principality Group UK.
