Real versus Virtual Road America which one wins?

Published - 28 Jan 2015

Digiprost have produced another excellent "real versus Project Cars" comparison video. This time Road America. Virtual was chasing real, to best mimic the real environment. The progression of screen graphics and techniques have reached a point where virtual maybe will be preferred.

The question is not which one looks more real but which one would you prefer to drive?

Formula Gulf FG1000 in Project CARS versus real

Published - 23 Jan 2015

Project CARS will be available for the PC, Sony Playstation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One starting March 17 in the United States and March 20 in Europe, coming both as standard edition and Limited Edition with additional content.

Thanks to AdrianF1ESP for the comparison video, showing off the Formula Gulf FG1000 in Project CARS.

The video below shows off two parts of Project CARS that make the WMD-powered multi platform racer very much unique as Project CARS is the only title to feature the FG1000 car and one of the very few racing titles to offer a fully-dynamic time of day engine that allow to simulate every time of day dynamic and in real time.

Here is a 15 lap LMP2 race in Project Cars. View this in full 1080p which shows the detailed, 60 frames per second, visuals. This shows what level simulation racing has got to.

Project Cars - Donington track video game vs real footage

Published - 04 Jan 2015

Project Cars is due out on PlayStation 4, X Box One and PC on March 14th in the US and 20th in Europe. This video by Digiprost shows the incredible detail and how realistic the visuals will be. The production of Project Cars, by including the user base in the development, was a smart move. In reality it imposes a new level of checks and measures past what an employee paid to do the job would apply. Plus a vast alternative expertise and thought set ready to tackle a problem.

Given the level of detail and graphic representation of Project Cars, then add a VR headset, like Oculus Rift - its going to be sim driving at a new level. The new generation of VR headsets have not hit the consumer market as yet. All are at SDK developer releases but freely available. That's good news as support for VR and its potential have been considerations for PC and consoles software developers.

Oculus Rift Demo with Project Cars

Published - 10 Dec 2014

When 3D TV's came on the scene it was touted as the next big thing. I tried Sony's PlayStation PS3 / 3D TV but it did not make me go out and invest. In contrast the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset is truly a "game changer". The DK2 is software development platform at present but is coming as a consumer product, allegedly in 2015.

The company which successfully launched on Kickstarter pulling in millions was then brought by FaceBook for $2bn. So they can't be short of cash.

Check out the first impressions by Gamermuscle. SimRoom will offer a complete "ready to drive" package based around the Oculus Rift. If you would like to be specifically informed on the development drop us a email ask@simroom.com

The video below shows the nimble British sports car on the Belgian Grand Prix venue both in the WMD-powered racing title as well as in real life.

It’s important to notice that the steering wheel movement does not line up with the real-life footage due to a bug in Project CARS’ replay mode that will be addressed before the title’s release.

Project CARS will be available for the PC, Sony Playstation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One, coming both as standard edition as well as being available as Limited Edition with additional goodies & content.
